Cafe Hacienda : Thy Comfort Food

Good friend fangie finds the lobster scene from Julie and Julia memorable while I simply adore the poaching eggs scene.  I love poached eggs and always find the runny yolk strangely comforting.  Guess I will never be a Julie because I will never have the patience to master the art of poaching an egg.  Thank goodness there are many places in our sunny, cosmopolitan island that sell poached eggs these days.

Latte

Eggs Ben, $13.50. Actually I cannot tell the difference between brunch here and brunch at Prive.  Both are just as good.  The thick and hearty piece of ham is worth all the calories.  Thick, thick ham makes me HAPPY!

Eggs Royale, $13.50.  Eggs ben that came with smoked salmon instead.  Someone once told me rocket is an over-rated veg.  I beg to differ.  Find its musky taste an excellent break for the tastebuds when served with rich food.  Matched especially well with salty smoked salmon Hacienda used.

Cafe Hacienda

Shall rank some poached eggs places in order of my preference.
2) Riders Cafe and Cafe Hacienda and Prive (somehow they tasted all the same to me!)

How about you? I haven't been to Cafe Epicurious yet.  The new outlet is just 5mins away from me.  Dying to GO for their eggs!

Wc: I wonder if TWR still has eggs ben these days? So long never go already. Choupinette also...miss them

Angeline: Hee hee I like Canele's brioche but my friend found the eggs ben too sourish and salty. Go try and see if you like it.

Let's go Epi! =)

Haha, this is totally random, but I saw your upcoming HK posts and wow, we went to the same places! The Sweet Dynasty, Honeymoon Dessert, Tai Ping Koon, Lin Heung Teahouse and Tai Cheung Bakery!

I'm most impressed by the last 3, for their BIG souffle, fab old school dim sum, and the super yummy egg tarts (respectively)!!

Looking forward to read what you think about them =)

if im not wrong, prive and hacienda are under the same management. hence the same menu :) i used to love the eggs benn but i think the standards have dropped somehow? I don't know. the hollandaise sauce on my bennie was clumpy and a little too buttery for my liking. i still love my bennies in melbourne.

ser: yes yes both are michael lu's ventures. i havent been there for quite awhile but yup inconsistency is common problem for many restaurants in singapore. ooh where can i find good bennies in australia? tell me tell me :P
