Pizza, gourmet pizza, healthy gourmet pizza, healthy gourmet pizza from Australia, healthy gourmet pizza from Australia now at Holland Village.
And I thought it was just on a whim I actually accepted Charlie (Orion PR)'s invitation to the soft launch of Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar. On hindsight, I do subconsciously or consciously want to be one of the first to have a taste of the Australian chain located conveniently at my hang-out.
Crust has 61 outlets in Australia, Singapore is their first international outlet. Good for us :)
Crust looks pretty much like a young and hip place. I am not quite sure if these hot babes will be around after the soft launch last Sunday as the shop space indicates Crust has more of a take-out and delivery concept.
I was introduced to the open kitchen by the store manager who aptly described how theatrical the action behind the kitchen will be on a busy night.
If the action in the open kitchen is theatrical then the row of fresh ingredients laid out will be a dramatic extension of the stage. Imagine witnessing the combination the fresh ingredients for your pizza right before your eyes!
With the helpers caught in the act of making pizzas.
Very serious in their performance! Helping to roll out the stars of the night!
Five Spice Pork Belly with thin strips of crispy pork belly, pear slices topped with wild rocket, crushed walnuts and balsamic glaze tasted more exciting than it looks. Liked the way balsamic vinegar cleverly cuts the taste of musky rocket while adding a twist of tang to the pork belly.
BBQ chicken sounds like a safe bet for people who are unadventurous. However, it tastes more interesting than it looks/sounds as well. This bbq based pizza with marinated chicken breast fillets, mushrooms, spanish onions, spring onions, pineapple and feta cheese has its magic in the feta cheese and spring onions. Quite an exotic combination isn't it? It tasted harmonious nevertheless.
Moroccan lamb with spanish onions, baby spinach with mint yoghurt and lemon is a chef's recommended pizza. We are not big on lamb so we didn't try. Well, spinach is such a healthy addition to this otherwise red meat dominant pizza. Do try it for me if you are a lamb person!
I love gigantic scallops on a pizza! Spicy pesto scallops was a definite crowd pleaser with spicy sun dried tomato pesto, spring onions, roasted red peppers, goat cheese and toasted pine nuts. Scallops on pizza, such a decadent combination! The unique pesto base, fresh and juicy scallops paired with final touches of spring onions and chopped chilli. Enough said!
Szechuan Chilli Prawn is for pizza lover with a sweet tooth. The succulent and firm prawns may be cholestrol inducing at other times but not for this pizza! For there are loads of alfafa sprouts on it. I never think szechuan seasoning and alfafa will work but it did!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Vegetarian Supreme with eggplants, baby spinach, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, bocconcini, SUNDRIED TOMATOES and ARTICHOKES. I love it because I love SUNDRIED TOMATOES and ARTICHOKES and it is great to see them on a humble vegetarian pizza. Even if you are a vegetable hater, the titillating pesto aioli will still win your heart over. Best vegetarian pizza ever!
I was so full that I have to pass these 2 pizzas, the traditional Margherita came with tomato base, fresh buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil. This is one pizza for the purists.
As for the traditional, there is always the Sweet Potato with roasted red pappers, onions, cherry tomatoes, gorgonzola and pine nuts. So bring your parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and whoever that cannot get enough of sweet potatoes along :)
As you can see, I am quite a fan of these gorgeous pizzas from Crust Gourmet already! These delicacies on thin crust come at very reasonable prices too. Their meat pizza is $23, poultry $22, seafood $25 and vegetarian $21 each. All pizzas are 13 by 8 inches, rectangle in size and topped with mozarella.
Crust Gourmet is celebrating Singapore's birthday by having a 45% off the second pizza till end of September! Just go to Crust website and download the e-coupon! I know I will risk parking my car along Lorong Mambong to grab the pizzas from now till then. How about you?

Crust in Aussie is non gluten base. I see no such claim on their website here...
That moroccan lamb pizza looks really good! :) This would be good as another key shop for take away or home delivery pizza!
