K-ki's Antoinette, $8
Antoinette according to Mr Britain is like a white chocolate and mango molten lava cake. Mr Britain likes the taste of mango so this ain't exotic to him at all. Me? I always love An. Move over chocolate molten lava cake.
KKi's Cafe Dumo, $8
The only complaint I have about K-ki is my fave Mont Blanc is forever so difficult to buy. We were told it's an hour wait to Mont Blanc last Sat so we ordered the Dumo instead. Mr British was impressed by the layers of differing texture and taste in this coffee-based cake. Anyway, I decided that the No-Mont-Blanc-Show at K-ki was a good excuse for us to drop by Flor to take-away their waguri millefeuille for our second round of cake feasting! Hey, who says our cake scene is sad!
Flor's Tahiti, $6
We happily headed home with 4 cakes from Flor. By the time we reach home we have digested K-ki's wonderfully light yet luxurious cakes! Flor's Tahiti (as the name implies) is a happy fusion of pineapple cubes, passionfruit cream and coconut dacquoise. The cake was a bit too tangy at first but soon became rather addictive. Mr Britain actually likes this more than me as tropical fruits are not quite my thing.
Flor's BerryBerries, $5.50
This cake is almost as light as air to almost not there. I did not have a good impression of Glace's strawberry souffle and BerryBerries reminded me of it. A whose taste buds were less jaded than mine actually said he likes this more than K-ki's cakes. STRANGE! I STILL LIKE K-KI's BEST.
Flor's Mango Pie, $6
All of us love the mango pie, I am especially impressed with the flaky pastry and dense almond-laced filling. The mango pie was the sweetest and heaviest amongst everything we tried but it wasn't cloying at all.
Flor's Waguri Millefeuille, $6.50
Flor's version of chestnut cake and closest parallel to Mont Blanc. I enjoyed this more than Glace's Mont Blanc because of the flaky pastry which added a stronger taste of butter. Other than that I still prefer K-ki's chestnut cream and almond base for Mont Blanc. Anyway, Mr Britain just learn that Mont Blanc is classically French and the Japanese's take on this classic French is one of the most important contribution to my cake universe :)
And so Mr Britain (after his eating and learning journey) concluded that those chocolate cakes and muffins bakeries in London will have a tough time staying afloat in Singapore. Who wants that boring chocolate cake where choices are aplenty! Don't think Mr Britain will ever think that the cake scene on our sunny island is boring ever again.
I am still a K-ki person. How about you?

I haven't tried Flor but definitely on the list to go when I'm back. We wanted to try Dumo but it was out of stock that time, but there were a good number of Mont Blanc which hubby got instead. Ironic huh?
I believe Singapore is still the best place to get good, quality, wide range of cuisines all over the world and i'm sure cakes are not the last on the list. :)
i haven't tried Flor but am definitely paying them a visit when i'm free. i definitely don't think singapore's cake scene is miserable! though i have to say that k ki, glace and flor have really spiced things up.
