Coffee Stars by Dao: Pit Stop!
The Great Singapore Sale is here! I just went to pay my dues! Although I am not excited by the GSS anymore, it is always a good excuse to meet up with girlfriends. B and I have came a long way. From buying Quiksilver backpacks to choosing Egyptian cotton. From slurping iced chocolate to sipping vanilla sencha. Over time, we both mellowed in our taste. We were not expecting much from Coffee Stars. Just a place to rest and grab a bite before we moved on. It end up to be an unexpectedly great pit stop in midst of our retail haven.

Clear Tom Yum Sea Bass, $5.80
Tom yum came with huge slices of sea bass and littered with enoki mushrooms. Lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, shallots, chilli padi and coriander were nicely put together. The broth was deep and well-balanced in taste.

The Little Fish Shop: 30%, 40%, 50%.
Cold Smoked Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon Salad, $9.95 (full price)
The Little Fish Shop belongs to the same people who owns Greenwood Fish Bistro. I always like Greenwood but did not really like their Fin@Marina Square. Curiosity and that intense craving for fish got better of me so I went to try LFS. LFS was having some promotion in their test kitchen. Basically all small plates, soups and salads were going for 30% off from 3.01pm to 4pm, 40% off from 4.01pm to 5pm and 50% from 5.01pm to 6pm. The cold smoked salmon was fresh and salty enough for me to like and it came on a bed of mesclun. Let's just say that we enjoyed every bite.

Double Bay Restaurant and Bar: A Little Dirt Won't Hurt?
A speck of dirt on my utensil usually does not matter much. After all, I have braved numerous street stalls in many places. A little dirt on my glass will not kill me but the attitude of the service staff certainly drove me up the walls. An incident at Double Bay reminded me of a disturbingly similar one in Bangkok. A couple of years ago, I got a glass of iced tea with an obvious trail of dirt floating on it. Instead of keeping whatever comments to herself that so-called friend said that she will ignore the dirt and just drink the tea if she was me. Last I check decent human beings do not gloat over a friend's plight by acting blithe. I did not touch the tea although I might if she did not make that comment. Something died after that incident - my respect for her. Fast forward years later in Singapore, the non-apologetic waitress at Double Bay took away the dirty glass without a word and returned with a clean one. I was feeling ok till she said, "That is not dirty, the glass is like that." Something died after this incident - my patronage to Double Bay.

Su Korean Cuisine: No More Su By The River
It has been an exciting week on this sunny and increasingly hot little island. For me, it was a hectic but fulfilling week. I swear I have not work my brain so hard for ages :) So will probably spend some time resting my poor little brain. Just a piece of information for now. Heard that the popular Korean restaurant Su@Boat Quay has closed. Food at Su was yummy despite of the unnecessary long waiting time. There is always another outlet at Far East if you want to give this place a go.

SkinnyPizza@Barracks@House@Dempsey
Hi everyone! How's your long weekend? I spend mine with truffle fries. Some new friends asked me to try the truffle fries at House but hey I am a PS Cafe gal at heart you know. Anyway, I got down to try their fries and end up with pretty mixed feelings.
